House Competitions at Etonbury Academy.

About our 'House' System.

All students and staff at Etonbury Academy are members of a 'house'. Etonbury Academy has four houses - Carters, Thatchers, Foresters and Saddlers. These are historic to the school and represent ancient crafts and trades from the local area. 

The houses are represented in the four quadrants of the school shield. Regular inter-house competitions, challenges, sports events and more are a feature of student life at Etonbury. To see what events are happening this half term that students can get involved in, click here. 

Students are proud of their 'Houses', and some are even in the same house their parents and grandparents were a part of when they attended the school.

House points are awarded throughout the year, and merits added to the totals. This is celebrated throughout the year during House Assemblies. The annual Sports Day sees a culmination of the yearly competitions.

Every merit earned, and every point scored feeds into a collective effort celebrated during our 'House' assemblies, all culminating in the thrilling climax of our annual Sports Day, where we announce the overall winner for the year.

Our house colours are: Carters (RED) Thatchers (Yellow) Foresters (Green) and Saddlers (Blue).

Our House Captains 2026 - 2027

At the end of each academic year, students are encouraged to apply to become a house captain for the up and coming academic year. Four pupils per year group are elected to represent their house, igniting team spirit, and ensuring every single student feels included, supported and ready to get involved.
